Gintama meets the end of the Victorian Era. The city of London had undergone a name change. It is now called Edo, after the foreigners from the East invaded the land. The European streets have integrated the imported goods of the Amanto, or as Gintoki liked to call them, "aliens" due to their strange style of dress and mannerism. Gintoki was known by the native residents of Edo as the "Jack of All Trades" or as the Amanto liked to call him "万事屋 銀"(Yorozuya Gin). On a particularly harsh winter, he witnessed a little boy craft a make-shift house out of the leftover scraps in the junkyard as a shelter from the cold. He decided to take in the orphan boy in order to help him with the business. He raises Sougo alongside his daughter, Kagura, the only memento left of his late wife excluding that mangy mutt of hers, Sadaharu. There had never been a dull moment since. As the years passed, the children grew taller, although Gintoki often wondered if they had grown any wiser as their fights had become increasingly violent and the damages to their surroundings had become more costly to repair. Sougo Okita possessed skilled hands, perfect for Gintoki, the owner of "Yorozuya", a flourishing business nowadays. Kagura, on the other hand, didn't really have a skill with tools, cooking, cleaning or really anything. Her only merit was her strength. It often seemed that she could rival the force of a thousand men any day. Her monstrous strength is reminiscent of her mother, of course. The format is a series of short stories (memories) mapping out Okita, Kagura and Gintoki's lives along with the strange people they meet. Just like an anime. In this story, Okita and Kagura will meet in high school. the will become rivals, but Sougo will end up falling for Kagura, however he ends up getting rejected by Kagura and she starts to date another man. The action takes place after a fight with Utsuro. Gintoki is in hospital because of his numerous injuries. Kamui makes a proposal to Kagura. Her life depends on her choice. When Sougo has to go on a mission and won't be around for Christmas Kagura gets sad and wants to spend Christmas with him. However Sougo gives Kagura a promise before he leaves. Basically I suck at descriptions and it'll just be a Christmas book based on their count down to Christmas and seeing each other.

It fits pretty cleanly into canon aside from the fact that in this story, Utsuro's somehow on the back burner and a year has passed since Kagura returned to Earth from Rakuyou, making Kagura 15 years old while Sougo and Kamui are both 19. Enjoy! [edit (2020): I wrote the first draft for KWBK in 2017 when I first watched Gintama, and by now a lot has changed in both my writing style and my perception of these characters. This story is during what happened in the war and after the war. Okita Sougo was fighting together with Hijikata when both got struck by the blade of Utsuro. They were unconscious for a while but they stood up again fighting. Or that what it seems to look like. Now after the war: The Yorozuya obviously won the fight and defeated Utsuro. But the after event of it is not joyful. The story revolves around Okita and Kagura relationship after the war.
